Welcome along to our weekly viral video post. This week is a special edition because its Super Bowl in the US, where the largest chunk of change for the best viral campaigns comes from. The Super Bowl in American culture is THE sporting event of the year and to celebrate this Sunday’s “Big Game” there are always new commercial’s launched.
This year so far all the video’s I could dig up where made by car manufacturers. Perhaps that’s because this year a 30 second commercial during the Super Bowl will set your company back a whopping $4,000,000. By the way there’s no recession for TV networks airing the game as that figure is up from USD$3.5M last year! To put it in context last year 111.3 million people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl.
One other interesting thing about this Super Bowl is that the two final teams (Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers) are each coached by one of two brothers, Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh, according to sbnation.com!
On that note its on to our first video, courtesy of Volkswagen, and I feel confident saying it will bring a smile to your face.
Viral Video #1: Volkswagen, Get In. Get Happy. Mon.
This video has been live on the Interwebs 4 days and already has 4.5million views, 154k shares on Facebook, 6.3k shares on Twitter and I’m going to guess these numbers will grow exponentially between now and Sunday evening.
Ya deeg eet mon?
Viral Video #2: Mercedes – Soul (extended cut)
Its nice to see Mercedes making a video ad that isn’t completely lazy, crappy, twatty, lazy (did I say that already ) advertising. With that very mild version of what I want to say about Mercedes and their marketing out of the way its time for the video. This one features Willem Dafoe, Kate Upton (who they have on speed dial it seems) and Usher and the latest Merc you will be able to buy in the US.
This Merc not only looks good and attracts bevvy’s of hot young ladies, but it also goes faster than a F1 car on a Nascar track. Who’da thunk it?
This video was uploaded to YouTube on the 30th of January and has gotten 1.2million views. Its had 59,803 Facebook shares and almost 2.5k tweets.
Viral Video #3: Audi – Prom
Audi are clearly the most beautiful cars being built today so this one had to be included.
Published on the 25th January its been around a little longer than the other two. 3.9 million views on YouTube, 34k shares on Facebook, 1,300 tweets.
Have you come across any other videos created specially for the Super Bowl? Please share them in the comments below and I’ll add them to this post.
