This month we heard
Duane Storey is the co-founder of BraveNewCode – a Canadian WordPress design and development company that focuses primarily on developing quality WordPress plugins.
Their flagship mobile plugin for WordPress, WPtouch, has been downloaded nearly 4 million times from the WordPress repository and was voted the #1 plugin for WordPress by a group of users at WordCamp San Francisco in 2009. Duane has also been a co-organizer of several WordPress conferences including two WordCamp Vancouver events and also WordCamp Whistler.
For the last two
Duane took us through the evolution of their WP-Touch WordPress plugin, from being a free download to considering the aspects of commercialization.
He covered some of the challenges their company faced along the way, abuse fired at them from the WordPress community at the time, mistakes made, profits withheld and the success that is the plugin.
Great talk and a great night.
